As I stated earlier, in 1992 I became an over-the-road truck driver. In the fall of that year, my father passed away. When you're driving down the road in a big truck, you have the opportunity to do lots of thinking. One day, as I recall, my JD Truck Training Centre was out in the great northwest, Montana to be exact. Thinking of my past, my dad, and where I was, I started to create a poem. I call it This Great Land Of Ours.

How long does it take to get certified? Depending on the school, it could take about 90 days. It varies from school to school. In good schools, there is the desk classes and then time on the road.

This is very possible. I have met a lot of truckers that didn't go to a Truck driving school. They learned it right at home growing up. They either grew up on a farm, or their dad took them on the road trucking. These guys who grew up on trucking really have the advantage with the experience they learned through the years.

These bonuses are common at the larger trucking companies. Sure they HOPE you're gonna be an outstanding truck driver, but more than anything they just desperately need your Mr licence butt in one of their trucks. Period.

Upon discharge from active duty he was assigned to Fort Hamilton as I had been. Living in Brooklyn it was logical that he would spend his six years of active army reserve at this fort. I've seen the mountains touch the sky, snow still there in June perhaps July, I've seen the green grass on the prairie and the blooming in the desert. My Dad never saw Montana as I drive through and take it for granted.
